Hi Friends! I’ve been thinking about confidence and how much time we spend waiting for it. We tell ourselves we’ll make the move when we feel more confident, when we know more, when we’re sure it will work. We’ll launch the idea, have the conversation, ask for the opportunity, raise the price, take the leap. Meanwhile, confidence is sitting somewhere saying, “Ma’am, I’m waiting on you too.” Last week, I sat with an email for hours before sending it. In this email, I was requesting a meeting with a brand to increase their engagement with the New Day Community, given we have consistent listener engagement and a thriving email community with over 10,000 active readers. The hours of paralysis I felt came from a deep fear that I was overstepping with this brand and might lose the current contract that we have in place. I didn't want to compromise the relationship, so I was willing to take less than I deserved. By the 3rd hour of "doing everything except sending the email," I rehearsed my brand receipts and got bold. I meditated over all of the brand engagements where my team has gone above and beyond to satisfy our contracts and deliver on the experience. By the time I finished replaying activations in my mind, I was certified CONFIDENT AND EAGER to press send! What I’m learning is that confidence grows through evidence. Every time you keep a promise to yourself, you create a little more proof that you can trust yourself. You said you would make the call, and you made it. You said you would finally start, and you started. You told yourself you were going to handle that situation differently, and this time you did. Those moments may feel ordinary, but they are quietly building something extraordinary: self-trust. So this week, give yourself a very practical assignment. Choose one promise you can keep to yourself every day. Make it small enough to accomplish and meaningful enough to matter. Then keep it. Your brain begins to notice when your words and your actions line up, and that relationship with yourself becomes the foundation for confidence. You don't need to wake up tomorrow feeling fearless. You need to start giving yourself evidence that you can trust the woman making the decisions. Confidence is built from evidence. Give yourself some. Before you move on with your day, write down: What is one promise I can keep to myself today? Then go keep it.
